Gone Fishin' for Treasure!

So we will be taking off tomorrow on our first of hopefully many purchasing excursions. We have a family wedding in Ft. Myers Florida, to which we decided to drive, while stopping along the way to visit many other friends and family. The advantage to driving is that we can take back roads and stop at as many roadside flea markets, thrift stores, yard sales, and junk shops that we come across. Hopefully this should help get the vintage collection back up to snuff after the holiday season, and possibly give us a little back inventory to replenish things with. Thankfully Wood & Spoon has allowed us the opportunity to take a trip like this, one we have always wanted to do.

So wish us well, and please come see us after February 1st! We'll be happy to share stories and show off our new toys! Oh, and don't forget to try out the new brunch at the Urban Orchard Cider Company! We'll get there as soon as we are home a gain...

Come one, come all! Grand Opening Celebration!

Welcome friends and neighbors, to a celebration of  you, us, West Asheville, and Autumn!  We'd like to thank all those who have warmed our space already, and in an effort to spread that wonderful feeling, you are all invited to share some good cheer with us on Saturday, October 19th, from 5 to 8pm.  We'll be serving Short Street Cake, Urban Orchard Hard Cider, and some homemade snacks and goodies. CW is planning a free raffle with prizes of merchandise and gift certificates, and we'll be open for business as well.

It has been an exciting week for us, with a sweet story in the Mountain Express by our friend Ami Worthen, which promotes out shop, as well as many of our neighbors and the bustling little corner of East-West (or Midwest) Asheville we call home. You can read her wonderful writing at    http://www.mountainx.com/article/53515/East-west-revival. We are really grateful to Ami and the Mountain Express for this generous coverage. Additionally, our next-door neighbor Jodi Rhoden has been exceptionally helpful as always, by providing not only delicious cake for the party, but greatly valuable help in bringing our business to the next level. You're the best Jodi!

The excitement is not just at Wood & Spoon either. Our newest neighbors are days away from opening the doors to the Urban Orchard Cider Co,  and we couldn't be more thrilled for these nice folks (and for the cider)!  Congratulations up the road also, to VILLAGERS on their one year anniversary, and Bari Salon their two year (also featured in this weeks Mountain Express).  Both of these great achievements will be celebrated on Saturday night as well, so we'll be heading to their party as soon as we're done here.

We are looking forward to a beautiful fall as well, so we'll hope to see you on the trail or the road.  Enjoy!

We Have Lift-off...

It is hard to believe, but here we are, already in our second week at Wood & Spoon! After opening up shop last Thursday, it has been a wonderful treat to see so many sweet friends perusing our collection, and it feels really good  to make a few sales. One unanticipated challenge has been to see so many of our favorite treasures taking flight, but that only makes room for more!

The neighborhood is also feeling very busy, with the coming of the Urban Orchard Cider Co. across the street, where we will soon be going for afterwork libations and snacks. Everyone over there is really nice and we're very excited to join them in developing this little nook of town. There is also the constant stream of happy cake-owners passing by our windows, and often through our doors. Many of these folks have become our first customers, and we can't thank the crew at Short Street Cakes enough for being there. It should be a delicious autumn!

Also just in, we have new works by wonderful friends; a beautiful painting by Hannah Dansie, and several wonderful painting/sculptures by Lisa Nance. What a joy it is to spend time in the shop admiring all these lovely works of art! Can't wait to see what's next.
